Video Game Art: Michael French.

Here's some information about a fascinating piece of multi-media installation by artist Michael French. You get to control God's hand to smush a neverending procession of soldiers. With all that violence, let's just hope there's no hot coffee mod as well to irk the censorists.

There's a studio in Columbia called City Art (It's also the only real art supply store in town). The individual work spaces it leases to artists have wooden slatted doors so people visiting the gallery can peak in and see what's up. The Strata series reminded me of that. I like the misty quality. "Grass 1" is verging on sofa art, but I have a feeling there's a textural quality that's lost on the internet, that saves it from such a fate. "Devil's Claws" is amazing. Love it.

Thought you might like to know that an amazing Martin Johnson Heade painting was just discovered in some guy's house in Mass. It's going up for auction on May 19, 2006. Crazy.
